Just finished a 2hp 2J head rebuild top & bottom end. The problem is now I have no speed adjustment. The spindle only turns when its set at its lowest speed. I'm puzzeled by the design of the motor side VS unit, as I see no mechanism that causes the VS unit on the motor to move the sheaves closer together. On the Vari-disc assm.P/N 1036 there is a large spring retained by a plate and two # 10-32 screws but what is the pressure of the spring acting against?? The front VS unit sheaves are pulled together by the chain off the worm gear driven speed adjustment. |

| Ok, its now going just fine and oh so quite. I called Barry Walker @ H&W Machine Repair and Rebuilding, he quickly figured out I had left the 2 # 10-32 screws in place so the variable speed pulley could not function Thanks to all who gave this thread a read. |
