My first visit here...hello! We have a Series 1 NC, Boss 6, that is showing an odd problem. When a program beyond a certain length is loaded, a few characters in a few lines of code become changed. X becomes k, etc. The error repeats regularly when we reboot. We are able to load the program without problem, but the characters corrupt while the program is run. The machine will run correctly for 20 lines or so and then ignore a G2 code. When the program is downloaded, we see the changes. Any ideas about fixing this? We don't find the ROM chips available. They seem to be marked for specific locations on the board. We thought to move chips from the middle to the end of the memory, but are not certain about how to identify which one might be defective, consequences of interchanging... Are replacement control boards available for sale? Thanks for any help, |

| Electric South still services these boards but they are expensive. Have you ever looked a Mach3 CNC control software? www.machsupport.com I offer a board and instructions to replace the original control with Mach3. There are several users on the Zone using my board. Darek |

| We have most of the boards for the Boss 4-6 machines, along with boards for the Boss 8-10 machines also. Our prices are much lower than Electrical South. If you are interested, just give us a call or check us out on our website www.bptparts.com Mike Melanson Drisson, LLC (BptParts.com) 203-877-8054 |

| tpretto, If you would like to see more info email me at ashburn@icx.net. My option will still be less expensive upfront and in the long run. This is more than a fix, this is a upgrade. Unlimited program size, all axis displayed, G code window, screen plot and much more! Nice Chris! Did you mount a flat screen in the original pendant? Darek |

It's a 12" screen fits a treat, used double sided sticky foam tape and a couple of screws just incase. I also wired the BOB (break out board) up to the X & Y limit switches so I can reference the machine. Just need to work out how to wire the spindle up so it can start the spindle automatically. | Nice mod. I didn't realize you could pull all the boards out to make room for the controller. I really like the LCD mod, once i get all teh kinks worked out and learn MACH3 i'll look into that. As for the orginal post. i've had the BOB Controller installed for two days and I'm amazed at how easy it was and how well it works. Mach 3 really opened up all sorts of abilities for my machine. |
