Bridgeport Series 1 wood router adapter?

I have a Bridgeport Series 1 retrofitted with a PC control (stock steppers).

Can you recommend a way to adapt a wood cutting router to the z axis?

Are you planning on using the quill as the z axis for the router? It would be difficult to do that. You would need to make some sort of bracket that clamped to the bottom of the quill and then mount your router to it. If you are going to use some other method for the z axis I would pull the whole head off the series 1 and make a bracket which would bolt onto the neck. Then you would have your z axis slide or whatever mounted to the neck and you would be good to go.

You might want to think about using an air spindle instead. They are designed to fit on a bridgeport and can hit router RPMs.
