Spindle concentricity on Boss 5 | | I recently bought a used Bridgeport boss 5 CNC locally here in the Seattle area. The electrical issues I was prepared for, burned out stepper drive diodes and the like, but the concentricity of the spindle to the #30 Erickson taper seems way off. Is it normal for the taper to turn 0.0015 out? I.e., an indicator on the inside of the taper reads 0.0015" from smallest to largest radius while rotating the spindle. It seems that this is excessive and surely isn't normal, but is it? If it is excessive, what is the recommended remedy?
BTW, a tool holder held in the taper gives the same results, but of course I went to the taper itself when I saw that, since the tool holder could have been bent. But unfortunately, the issue is concentricity of the taper to spindle rotation.
Thanks,
