Question Bridgeport VMC 1000 Heidenhain TNC 2500B

I'm a Fanuc guy. Never ran one of these before. Is there a way manually or with G code to send the spindle to the home position for a tool change so that I don"t hit any clamps on the tool change. I've tried it in the Heidenhain mode and the ISO mode with no luck so far.

Thanks,
racerdog

Try a M25.
Do you not have a programming manual?

Is this an actual problem or a theoretical problem? I mean, does the plc allow x and y moves prior to positioning the Z? My machine always goes to the z limit as the first move.

Sorry, I did not explain my problem in enough detail.
My set up is high and my some of my tools are longer than normal. If I do a tool change over the part the tool carousel comes down far enough to cause one of the long tools to hit clamps and the top of the part. I would like to be able to send it on the X and Y axis to the machine home like I can on a Fanuc with a G91 G28 X0.0.
My boss got some documentation off the internet on machine operation but a lot of the information is vague and I'm not even sure if it is for this model of CNC.
Thanks again.
racerdog.

Ahh, I see.

I guess writing a subroutine would be the only way. AFAIK heidenhain machines pay no attention to machine zero as far as programming is concerned, unless you always leave x0 and y0 at the home. I don't know if the 2500 has 'pgm call' but 'lbl call' is useful for the one program. Just after all the main program put:
LBL 10
Z0 FMAX[assuming z0 is full up, which would be like z20 on my machine]
Y0 FMAX
X0 FMAX
LBL 0
and call lbl 10 before each tool change

Thanks Gus. That's what I was looking for. I'll try it out tomorrow.
Appreciate the help.

De nada

You might also want to download the tech manual from heidenhain that I referred to in the other thread, it explains a lot of stuff that only the machine integrators[bridgeport] usually have access to. It may tell you how you can set up a permanent solution for this if that is possible

Hi, how did you make out with homing the machine before tool change?I do it this way.

Z0 FMAX M92
Y0 FMAX M92
X0 FMAX M92

I put these three lines in before each tool change.
