Series 1 R2E3 Questions

I am a Senior at Ball State University in Indiana and for my Capstone course my team and I are working on our Bridgeport Series 1 R2E3 Boss 8 CNC Mill. A team in 2003 changed the motors and then also added Ah-hA? to run it. It currently runs off a MS-DOS platform. I have a few questions so here it goes. First, is there another program that could run the machine from Windows XP? What new machine would be comparable to ours if we were to replace it?
I am sure I will have other questions and sorry for being a newbie if I have asked some stupid questions. There isn't anyone, professors or students, who know much about this machine. One of our goals is to be able to create a workbook for it so that future classes and students will be able to operate with ease.

Thanks,
Andrew

I wish I could help but I am only familiar with the original configurations.
Even the EZTRAKS, V2XTs and VMCs were run in DOS.
Check the other forums as your question is just a little vague. Are you looking for a conversational piece of software that would output code that the AH_HA will understand? Do you want this to run in WIN XP? Or are you trying to replace the AH_HA operating system with something that runs in WIN XP?
I do not have the answers and with the amount of replys you are getting, that is why I am suggesting you try other forums on this web-site.

Totally unrelated to your questions - I think I want to start a new thread but can't seem to figure out how to do that! I'm considering purchasing an series 1 r2e3 and would like to know what parts are typically reused in an upgrade. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Ray
