Does anyone use Mastercam for there BOSS

Hi

Been using Mastercam V9.1 to do some programs for my Boss 6.1 but I having some trouble with the post processors.

The supplied post processors don't support subprograms, does anyone have a modified post that does subprograms?
I've tried to modify the stock post and have been fairly successful but I can't get the subprograms to list at the start of the program they are stuck at the end, resulted to moving them manually after I've posted them.

When doing circular moves in the G18, G19 planes, it gets the G codes the wrong way around i.e. G2 instead of G3.
I've altered this but it's a bit of a bodge, it works well but I'm sure there is a better way of doing it.

Seams to mess the cutter comp up to putting it on at the wrong time.

Any help or recommendations appreciated, I've tried on the Mastercam post forum bit but no one wants to help.

Chris

I’ve been using it but just have been doing some engraving, using the post from 8 in 9. It seems to work OK. I looked over the posts and it doesn’t use anything special just very small x y moves to do an ark. Are you downloading into the Boss computer? That’s what I am doing and the memory is way too small for the engraving I am doing. I had to chop this up into 3 parts. I just put a pencil in the quill to play a little.

I just had the paper in a clip board it wasn’t quite flat, and the paper moved a couple of times but I am happy with the results. Now I have to figure how to get more memory.
I would like to try what Hill Billy did if he is interested in helping out.
Good luck.
Stephen

Ya the pencil was spinning. This was actually the first thing I downloaded from a PC/ RS 232. I wanted to test with something that wouldnt make a big bang when thinks went for sh-t. What is a (greco mini file it's a rack mount) I take you remove the tape reader and replace it with this. How many lines will it handle? Same Communication as the Boss?

I am transfering the files via rs 232 and yes the memory is small, all the more reason to want to use subprograms to help cut the file size.

Somebody on here must have done or at least tried to do subprograms in mastercam for use on their Boss machine, if so please help I'm nearly there, just need to alter where the subprograms are placed.

If it will help I can attach my post for you to look at.

Thanks again

Chris

boss 8

Im running boss 8 series II and using a laptop with dnc and have used about 38kb with tool changes and coolant and it works perfect! usb to serial converter cable with ezlink. You can get a kit on ebay for bridgeport. its about 60 bucks and it is awesome! the waring is a bit tricky but if you get that i can guide you through that with no problem.
