    Opinions on Torq-Cut22

    Hey guys,

I'm looking at a Bridgeport Torq-Cut22 machine and have really no experience with them. I currently have a Cincinnati Arrow and I'm very happy with it. Any pro's or con's to this machine?

I keep quite a few of these running. I have three doing mold work day in and day out. I have 2 close to me in garages with phase converters mking parts in one man shops.
Be aware that they have DC drives on X, Y, and Z axis. Thus they will need brushes occasionally. The spindle drive and motor are Yaskawa AC type. Some have a gearbox and some do not. Most important is does it run and how does it sound. When was the last time the axis motors were serviced. It has a DX control. Does it still have the original mother board and hard drive or has it been upgraded. Very important also is if it was one of the early ones, does it have the Z axis PARVEX motor. It is about twice the size of the X and y motors. It has to be as there is no counter weight. How much tooling comes with the machine?

I have a TC-22 that has done alot of work for me.
They are pretty nice little machines all and all.
They all seem to have about the same issues that will come up along the way.
Thanks to George and some others on here I have been always able to get mine running again after different issues.
By all means back up your harddrive and make restore discs as soon as possible.
Dont wait till the day it wont boot up because of a faulty harddrive or a dead c-mos battery.
That day will come believe me.
I run mine from a 7 1/2 hp cnc rotary convertor with no problems and run another BP series II and small drill press at the same time sometimes with no problem.
Youll like the machine just be prepaired.
