    Bridgeport 2J head rebuild

I am working on a rebuild for a 2J head. The operator complained about noise and vibration. After pulling the head and opening it up it is full of green plastic. Is there a rebuild kit for this that contains the necessary items?

I don't know what that is, but you can get rebuild kits from H&W Machine Repair and they are very knowledgeable and can probably answer your question. Bought my ball screws and some other BP parts from them recently and found them a great company to deal with. H&W - Parts for Bridgeport Mills, New & Used Machinery, DRO's, Power Feeds

A heads up. The original heads were 1.5 HP and later they became 2 HP. The motor shafts are a different diameter.
Originally both came with thin black inserts that were epoxied in. Kits are available for this but I do not recommend them. You would have to glue these in with precision so the disc runs true in 3 dimensions or it will vibrate.
The front vari disc still is made this way. The rear now comes with a thicker green insert. This is not replaceable.
When replacing these, I usually replace both front and rear discs, plus the belt and the three bearings in the front. This assures a head that will not need further attention in that area.
