Blocked or o/c fan no longer cooling the controller?
I have an Interact 412 with TNC2500 control. It has started to randomly shut down.
When I first power it up cold, it goes through the memory test and waits. As soon as I enable it, it crashes, indicating a Gross Positioning Error, usually on Z-Axis, but sometimes on the Y-Axis.
After the electronics have been powered up and warming for awhile, I can start the machine and operate it successfully for a random period of time. It will work awhile, then crash on a TNC Operating Temperature Exceeded.
I have photos of the error codes for several crashes if the inifo is any help.
Thank you,
Cliff
Blocked or o/c fan no longer cooling the controller?

No. The TNC panel is open and when I scan with an infrared thermometer the highest temp I find is 30C. This controller has no forced cooling and has never been a problem before now. I suspect the control board(s) may have some bad solder joints due to flexing. The screws attaching it to the framework were loose.
A schematic and board layout would be very helpful to track this down. Anyone able to help?
Thanks,
Cliff
heidenhain does not release schematics only flow charts and functional diagrams. The 2500 is the same as a 360 IIRC and there are some manuals on the website.
What drives does this machine use?
Bosch on the axes, Fanuc on the spindle. Thanks, I'll see what I can find on the 360.
