I have been looking for ballscrews for my Bridgeport for an eventual CNC conversion and can't decide which ones will be best. I read somewhere that the Hiwin screws are not preloaded. They are ground and much more accurate than the Rockford, but the Rockford has adjustable preload and they say on their website that they have added stiffness for heavier cuts and climb milling. This is important to me since I want zero backlash and will also still use the machine manually a lot. Only disadvantage I see on the Rockford is that they are rolled, not ground, but not sure that little bit of inaccuracy will be a problem.
Comments on which is better or is there an even better alternative?
Also, got a price on the Rockford of $1,350 direct from them. Seems to be the exact same description and most likely the same screws on Microkinetics site for $975. Can anyone confirm if they are the Rockford or if there is an even less expensive place to get the Rockford from?
