Bridgeport BOSS 6.2 56 volt DC power supply. Anyone know the current output of it.

I am going to be tearing out all of the old Boss 6.2 controls that I dont need. It says in the manual that it has a 56vdc power supply in it. Does anyone have an idea what the amp rating on this power supply is. I have 3 servo motors on the way that are have a max amp rating of around 9 amps. I have a Tellabs 48vdc at 10 amps power supply that I was going to use but I dont think it will have enough current output to run all three servos under load. I am going to have to get another one and run them in parallel to get 20 amps. If anyone can let me know if this would work that would be great. The servos are rated to run at 60 vdc so the bridgeport power supply would get me more rpm out of the servos.

There is also a 54 V supply for the current limit circuit using the ACC card. The bridge for this is with the 3 axis drive bridges on the same heat sink.
There is a range for the 56 VDC supply for the axis. The 56 VDC is the minimum. I have seen many cases where people move the Z axis wire to the next higher tap on the 3 phase transformer to get less stalling. The high limit is about 65 VAC on this transformer. Any higher and you will blow the final drive transistors like candy.
When setting the current on these drives, the fuse is replaced with an amp meter and the static current is set to 8 to 8.2 amps. Funny thing though, the voltage will be about 9 VDC with respect to ground at this current. Run the axis at rapid and the current drop to about 2 amps and the voltage grows up to 56 Volts.
I guess you need a power supply that can provide 30 amps at 60 VDC in a reliable manner to be safe. I am assuming the drives you mention do not have their own power supplies built in.

I am using the Gecko 320 drives to do my retrofit. . Are these Boss steppers 56 volt steppers? I am just assuming that is the power supply driving the steppers. I may be wrong. I also see something about a 24v power supply in the manual. Do you think this bridgeport power supply can be used to runn wiht the geckos? Thanks for the help George.

The large T2 transformer can supply the necessary output (the machine does work), but maybe not the regulation. Let's face it that is the reason for the ACC board and the saturable core reactors plus the power resistors and diodes. It would be best to see what those that have done this conversion are using. The 24V was part of the control circuit. Don't you have the wiring schematics?
