| What will you use for the sliding mating surfaces? A lot of work to reinvent the wheel. There are a lot of conversions working on this forum with the cast tables. George

| you'd spend more on a slab of AL that size than you would on a beefier set up to account for the greater inertia. like machintek says, CI is the right material for the job - bearing surface, resists dings, stronger, more stable than rolled metal and has better vibration dampening, etc. If i had a mill with an AL table, I'd buy your CI one from you, cuz I'd be looking to convert!
