Boss 5 spindle interlock with HillBilly BOB

    Hi

Retrofitting another Boss 5 machine with Darek's great HillBilly BOB, but I can't seem to get spindle to start unless I pull the fuse from output 14 on the BOB.

Yes, weighlube is full. Machine runs fine when I pull that fuse, I have added the M3 M5 macros and macropump, restarted the program etc.

On my last retro I think I added another Control relay to control the spindle, but I can't remember, should have taken notes

I don't know about the Hillbilly BOB, or output 14, but Bridgeport lead 203 needs to go "open" to allow the spindle to run, via CR3; low (ground) equals spindle off.
Lead 204 goes high (+24V) when the spindle is running, and is what I connected to the block allow.
Lead 211 needs to be jumpered to lead 214, if CR1 has been deleted (as well as the limit over-ride switch)
All lead numbers are from the terminal strip at the bottom of the BP power cabinet.

    Thanks Scottly

seems as though I had a issue with the BOB. pulled the fuse and spindle would work.

Can you reverse the polarity of output 14 in the control setup? (I'm using an AHHA control, and the input and output polarities of each lead can be changed from high=true to low =true.) I wired the normally closed contacts of a relay to lead 203 and ground. When I call out an M3, the relay operates and opens the contacts, allowing the spindle to start. Maybe your BOB is set up to only allow the spindle to start when the relay is not operated, which is why it works when you pull the fuse? Just guessing here...
I would measure the voltage on lead 203, both with an M3 and an M5.

I have it working properly now. What I ended up doing was still using output 14 on BOB to control spindle, but I added a small relay to control the signal further downstream, which is coming from the old K6 pins 6 & 7.
