    BAT on screen

    Hi All,
I have a bridgeport series II and after I have turned it on and homed the axis,
It shows BAT on the second row of the LCD screen. I figured it was my batteries that are in it for the memory. I have replaced them and cleaned the contacts and still can not have the machine remember my ref point or zero when I shut it off and turn it back on. I put what is believed to be brand new batteries in. I have not tested the voltage on the batteries yet but was hoping I was headed in the right direction with this BAT. I have searched the forums and have not found anything yet on this.
All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

    Bat

I presume that this is a Boss 8 or 9 control. There are two sets of batteries on the machine boards, one is on the FMDC and the other is hiding on the EMC board. As you already found out the batteries are no longer available in original form but can be replaced with short leads to replacement. I have found many of the machines are extending the leads out to the rear cabinet and installing a battery pack holder for both boards, this makes it a lot easier the next time around.

    Batteries replaced

It is a boss 8 controlled machine. The batteries I have found were the batteries on the side of the machine head and are labled memory batteries. The second set is inside the rear cabinet behind the board which have infact already been customized to accept two D cell batteries like on the box on the side of the machine on the head. Are these the only batteries to be replaced. And am I correct in stating that the code BAT on the screen is asking to replace these batteries? When I replaced both sets of batteries I still got the code BAT. Maybe I have bad batteries.

    Bat

BAT: This indicates that the battery on the EMC board is dead and must be replaced. (as per manual 7.3 section)

Cause could be, bad batteries or connection to board...I would try fresh batteries first or measure voltage.
