r2e3 X AXIS MARKER

Can anyone tell me where the Tach signals from the X axis go? More specifically the marker signal from the encoder to the rear cab I guess it is. Need to trace the wiring out. Swapped encoders and still faults

NOW I'm getting this message +X overflow...

I assume thats something to do with tach?

See :http://www.cnczone.com/forums/bridge...r_message.html

George gives (as always) a good explanation

Ok, so I swapped encoders from x to z axis and tried to home all axis. Now I am getting Z axis marker fault.

When I changed the bulb I disturbed the pc board, so I am assuming the marker 'window' is no longer aligning up. Tried moving board around but I'm not having much luck getting marker to work. Or I go to much one way and loose tach signal......

oK, now I've got the encoders and markers working again....seems as though the wire from the bulb was either reflecting onto the photocell or whatever the sensor is, causing the marker to never show...

but now am back to original problem with x axis trips in rapid in one direction.

have attached FIST

Fist shows a misposition of the X axis. It may not be counting correctly. There are actually 3 channels in these encoders. A, B, and the marker pulse. The only way to see what is going on is to put a Oscope on it.
Reading some of the posts, I would like to clarify that if you move an axis to center and initiate homing, press and HOLD DOWN the home switch. Then the control looks for the marker pulse, sees it and moves an additional 300 thou.
I understand the work involved, but at this point, if you swap motors, and the issue follows the motor, then it is the position loop in the motor (encoder).
Also the tach is a separate set of brushes that act as a generator and produces a +/- up to 10 VDC that is called the velocity loop.

Hi George

I did swap the X and Z servo motors two days ago, but the fault does not follow the motor.

It also does not seem to follow the encoder as I swapped them as well

Hi George

I did swap the X and Z axis servo motors the other day for troubleshooting this fault, it does not follow the motor, always stays with the axis. It never faults going in the - axis only when I try to rapid in positive direction.

As well swapping encoders didn't resolve anything, mind you I disturbed the PC boards on encoder when I replaced the bulbs. That is when I had the marker fault. That is since been corrected

What is FFDD or FF8D misposition?

Anyone tell me what would cause the FFDD or FF8D misposition? What is difference between them?

That is Hex for the distance. The 0001 indicates the X axis.
Have you ohmed out the cable?
I remember that the encoders go to the FMDC. I used to pull the connector on each axis to set the drift (balance) on the axis drive boards. If I was to venture a guess, the tachs also go to the axis drive boards. Have to find a set of prints. It has been a while.

So I'm trying to ohm out the wiring from X axis motor to the FMDC and the servo drive cabinet.

I've pulled wires 306 and 307 off of TB1 for the tach signal and going from Cannon plug to wire 306 + 307 I'm getting some continuity. i believe from The DLI board where ever that is. I would like to disconnect K1 plug at DLI board and recheck. Anyone tell me what DLI is and where?
