R2E3 x axis trips in rapid one direction

I am getting a X axis tripping off when I rapid in the - direction if I rapid in the positive direction no problem.

Tried swapping X and Z servos with encoders and now X trips both ways seems like encoder is broke now?

Or is it hitting hard limits? Change relationship of encoder marker pulse to switch. Assuming it is counting. IE move home switch dog to be seen .050 inches sooner or remove belt and turn motor 180 degrees, put belt on.

    Hi George

Well I jogged table away from home switch, then activated home switch, then hit EXEC and table starts to move I hit the home switch again. It's acting like it's shorted to limit switch or something.

I can try removing belt and turning 180 deg. but if it's not near the limit switch do you think it could still be marker?

so looking at the signals coming from Channel A, B and the marker, one of the channels has a poor pattern on the oscilliscope. Tried adjusting the 3 pots on the encoder and pattern was getting a lot better but it still seems to trip off......Anyone?

I need to find a manual on adjusting these encoders properly

    Okay

So I've removed the cable from y encoder, swapped it to X encoder and swapped connector K7 & K8.

Still getting the same fault so I think I've isolated any wiring faults between encoder and FMDC board. So now what?

So just to confirm, yes I have swapped the motors complete with encoders. Swapped X to Z and then even tried Y. Fault does not follow motor, fault remains with X axis.

Started cutting the million ty-raps holding the wiring between servo drive bay and FMDC board, will investigate wiring. Definitely had Armstrong doing up the Ty-raps at the factory.

Ok, so I've just bypassed wiring K13-6 to pin 2 on X axis TB1. As well K13-1 to pin 1 on TB1

    no change.

Checked tach signal with G1 at 111 both + direction and - direction and within .5 of a volt. That was checked at wire 306 & 307

Ok, tried several wiring bypasses from pins 17 & 20 to ELI board. as well, tried bypass from 306 & 307 to ELI board same fault still exists. will not rapid in the one direction.

I did run FIST monitor and looking at the X Y Z axis while at a stop, X is showing alphabetical characters instead of numerical. see attached.

I need someone to double check my wiring calculations to swap inputs/outputs from K1 & K2 on ELI board from X to Y axis

Ok, so I have now the X axis working in rapids both directions.

But now Y axis will not rapid one direction. Looks like I will look at encoders again, mind you I also replaced a chip on EAF board the IC7 chip. Should have written down what I have done.....
