    Prototrak

Thinking about adding a Prototrak K3 with an SMX controller to the stable. Is this the right forum?
If so any others have one that is fairly new?
What do you like about it?
What do you wish it did better?
    How is their service?

I intend to do things that are currently done on a knee mill so I don't expect it to cut mold cavities or have expectations beyond it's capabilities. I know a guy who has one of the bigger bed mills that does cut 3d work and is quite impressed with what it can do.

    ProtoTrak

    Hi Kevin,

We have a ProtoTrak K-2 with the SMX control at work. It's a pleasure to program and run. Granted, I do my programming conversationally on the machine. We do have the posts to program the machine using GibbsCam and Esprit, but, I haven't used them.

I have a Sharp mill with a ProtoTrak AGE-2 retrofit at home. I have had to use their customer service and they are excellent. They walked me through getting it powered up over the phone.

The SMX can do a little more than the AGE-2. Pockets with islands for example. Very useful. You will like it.
