I am helping someone who just purchased an R2E3 Series II, which I believe has the Boss 8 Controller. The machine is located some distance from me, so getting a few things figured out before I get there would be great. My questions are, I understand EZLINK is what Boss 8 uses for DNC upload, but EZLINK will only work on true DOS correct? Is there any free Windows based programs that I can use to upload to the Boss 8? What cable does the Boss 8 require to comminicate with an external computer? Any help is appreciated. I'm new to this. -Joe |

| Congrats on the R2E3, I have recently beat our R2E3 into submission on the communications side. I have had success with Ezlink EZUTILS6.21. I have been using WinXP on my laptop and it works great. You need to get a copy of the Bridgeport Technical note on communincation and that EZUTILS6.x and you are all set to drip feed large programs. You can use Hyperterm or Terra term etc to send a file to also. This is also explained in that appnote. But the memory is so small drip feeding is the way to go. I have found that EZCAM is a good 2 1/2 D way to create data from CAD. I am using onecnc for 3D work. If you give us a email address I am sure soemone will make sure you have a copy of the BP document and the EZutils. Dave |

| Thank you for replying! I've read about this bulletin. You'd think someone would permanentely post it online here, at least in Downloads. If I can get it by 7PM EST tomorrow, someone can send it to me: bellamyj@jccal.org I'm not sure if the machine came with a cable. Is a special cable required? What are the ends... 9-PIN SERIAL for comp side?, is it that funky 25-pin on the "port B" of the controller? Would I be able to pick one up at a local electronics store? |

| It was zipped. I resent the tech bulletin alone without EZLINK and the manual. George

| I would also be interested in the software dfmiller is posting. Please send a copy to nmeade@gmail.com. I can upload through 12k programs through Cimco but no drip feed. Thanks! |
