EZ-TRAK boot up problem

Hi everyone. I have a bridgeport EZ-TRAK DX that has problem. When booting up everything goes OK till I get to the line, "loading ms-dos" Then it stops. No error messages or anything. It just sits there. I reloaded the back-up disk but no luck. I've read the other posts on the ez trak and have seen several mentions about the cmos battery on the mb. I looked in the cib and I can't see anything on the mb that looks like a battery to me. At least I didn't see anything corroding. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful.

Did you check your disks on a PC with a floppy drive to see if they are readable? If yes, next test would be the floppy on the machine. Floppy drives and floppy disks do not really last very long in an industrial environment.

Hi Txcncman,
It boots up from a hard drive, not the disks. But I just put the backup disk in my pc and everything looks OK on that. I replaced the floppy drive on the machine a while back. You are right, floppys are a bad system for a machine shop. The disk's don't last long at all. Not sure what will happen when they stop making them. Thanks for the reply.

Probably a DALLAS REAL TIME CLOCK chip.
When bootind go to CMOS and check the time and date. If far out then nothing in CMOS can be assumed to be correct and it may not read a floppy or hard drive correctly because those settings may be off. The back up disk is machine software only probably. Thus will not fix DOS.

I'll check it this weekend when I have time away from my day job. I looked on line and found a fix for it if this is the problem.
