spidle cartrage

hi i"m new to the site wondering i replaced the spindle cartrage in a bridgeport vmc1000xp3 everthing is working but the clamp/unclamp, it will not unclamp far enough, cylinder starts down then stops before moving forks. Any out look would be very helpful

Probably broken spring washers in it. No need to remove spindle. Remove cylinder on top, and remove nut from drawbar. Drop out drawbar and remove springs with a magnet or coat hanger. Note arrangement of washers. Very critical. Also a very special high pressure grease on them.
