Bridgeport series 1 issue.

I came across this site looking for info on my setup. It seems I started having a no start issue on my 86 BP after I tilted the top part to a 45* to machine a part. It would not work with how I needed to machine the part so I put it back to 0 and when I turned the switch to run on high/forward and spindle does not turn on nor hear any noise like wanting to start. I saw a thread about a low level issue but only have a oiler on the side of the mill where I pull the handle up to self lube. Any help?? Thanks in advance
Mike

I believe when you tilted the head to a 45 deg. angle you may have stretched the wire and pulled a connection loose. manual machines can tilt pretty far just watch the oil in the head.if it is going to be that way for awhile.

Hi NoriBilt-

punchpressman probably has the answer, me being a "cause and effect" kinda guy, but you might want to check that oil level. The Bijur pump is electrically interlocked (at least on both my BOSS 5 & 6) with the start circuit. It will not stop during a run cycle, but if the oil level is low, it will not allow the spindle to start. Might be too coincidental, but just a thought.

If you have a meter or even a voltage tester, I would check to see if you have power at the on/off switch.

The Bijur pump may not have the interlock. If there are wires running to it then yes. If not it is a standard one-shot manual pump and would not have the low fluid level interlock.

I would just go over all the basics again. Wire connections, fuses, etc.
