Hi, I have a 1988 Bridgeport Interact 412 with a Heidenhain 151P control , Fanuc Spindle drive and Bosch Axis Drive cards. Problem # 1 Error " Axis PSU Fault " This happens once in a while when X & Y are moving or sometimes at a stand still. It also happens every time I slow the spindle speeds by more than a couple hundred RPM's , Manually or running a program. Problem # 2 The Spindle does not Orientate to the correct spot for a tool change. It stops at random locations. Any help is greatly Appreciated Thank You !! |

| Rmarch Hello, I commented that I have 2 Bridgeport Interact 412 Heidenhain TNC 151 control, both drivers Bosch. Model 1987 and 1988. The error "axis psu fault" happens to me in one of the machines and from what I read is due to drive failure. You should check them or you are a little more daring cambial drivers capacitors, which are inexpensive and usually generate normal faults. regarding the orientation of the spindle, your problem must be in the encoder which is the right of the screw shaft, you probably have the timing belt is bad or dirty encoder, you must be very careful when handling because it is Heidenhain and therefore very expensive. I hope this information serve you and excuse my English and I speak only Spanish and I use a translator for this. Luck and what they need. Damian |

Thank You for your help. I have replaced the 3 Bosch drive cars and the power supply board and i still get the same error, I think it may be the Spindle drive but I need to be sure before buying one they are very expensive. I need to find out how to reset the spindle Orientation encoder before buying a new one just to be sure it's no good. Have a great day Last edited by RMARCH; 08-18-2011 at 06:26 AM. |

| Heidenhain encoders have a small incandescent bulb which with age silvers on the inside and thus becomes erratic in its output. What is your power in? Is it true 3 phase? Why am i asking? Because when a spindle decelerates, it puts energy back into the system and if voltage is high already, it can fault out a spindle drive. Drive

| Hi George , The power in is 238 , 242 & 245. The machine is being run on a rotary phase converter. I have 2 bridgeport 412's the other one runs fine when i switch rotary phase converters. Maybe it's because the machine i am having problems with is a couple years older and some of the electronics are different. I was thinking maybe i should invest in a newer Digital rotary phase converter, I read you can adjust the voltage. Thanks so much for your help !!! I just ordered a Buck n Boost transformer , let's see if that helps. Last edited by RMARCH; 10-04-2011 at 10:00 AM. |

Having a problem with the spindle orientation on a VMC 100 with a TNC 370 controller and Seimen Drive. The encoder for orientation that connects to X6 on the TNC370 was noisy and the spindle was not orienting correct for a tool change. We put a brand new Heid encoder on it, but it still does not orient correct. Every time we do a M06 it stops about 10 degrees further clockwise each time. After installing the new encoder, while in the middle of a tool change, we set the orientation by moving the belt on the pulley until it was positioned correct and tightened everything up. What are we missing? Any suggestions? |
