Heid426 Tapping

Tried writing both iso and conversational programs to no avail.

Conv.
BEGIN PGM 1 INCH
TOOL CALL 5 Z S300
L R F M06
G53 P01+1
L X+11.6877 Y+.7716 R F MAX M03
CYCL DEF 2.0 TAPPING
CYCL DEF 2.1 SET UP -0.1
CYCL DEF 2.2 DEPTH -0.875
CYCL DEF 2.3 DWELL 0.
CYCL DEF 2.4 476
L X-8.398 Y-5.8988 R0 F MAX M03

Getting an error at cycl def 2.4. feed rate. Changed it to several values from 476(0.0625 pitch per inch X 25.4 x 300 rpm) Just struck me, maybe it needs to be;
CYCL DEF 2.4 FEED)476 Edit; I edited the program adding FEED, same results/error.

Or ISO
;
N1 G00 G90 Z0. M91
; 3/8-16 TAPRH
N2 T5 G17 S713
N3 M06
N4 G53 P01+1
N5 G00 G90 G40 X-8.398 Y-5.8988 M03
N6 G84 P01 .125 P02 -.875 P03 0 P04 1131.8875
N7 Z+2 M08
N8 Z+0 M99

Error on N6. No other feedback. Could be decimal in feed rate? Edit; fiddled with speed and feed to get a close even numbers with same error.

Anyone have working code in either iso or conv for rigid tapping I can compare to what I'm doing to get some headway on this?

Kevin.

why is there a G in your conversational?

are you programming through cam?

i am not at work, but cycle looks wrong

no cycle call

if you are rigid tapping, you need to use rigid tapping, no 'feedrate'

As Gus said the cycle is wrong. I am not at work either but I think its Cycle 17

BEGIN PGM 1 INCH
TOOL CALL 5 Z S300
M06
CYCL DEF 17.0 RIGIDTAPPING
CYCL DEF 17.1 SET UP+0.1
CYCL DEF 2.2 DEPTH-0.875
CYCL DEF 2.3 F0.0625
L X+11.6877 Y+.7716 R0 F MAX M03
Z+0.1 FMAX M99
L X-8.398 Y-5.8988 F MAX M99

I think thats about right

Thanks guys. Yes the conversational was wrong. I did get it to work in iso. Have to edit programs by hand but the following line works great,
G85 P01(start above datum value) P02(depth from datum, incremental) P03+(pitch in decimal inch)

or

G85 P01+0.1 P02-1.0 P03+0.0625

Once I started typing G85 instead of G84 on the controller the help dialog box/graphics popped with all of the correct parameters and there proper syntax. This controller is so advanced. Wish i had time for formal training.

K.

It's in conversational so it's easy to check. Start programming it by hand at the machine and the controller will tell you what it needs.

They are all probably a little different.
