R2E4 series 1 startup

Hi all, I'm a long time lurker.
I just bought a series 1 R2E4 Bridgeport.
I have a maintenance manual, if you have the other manuals available send me a PM.
I also may need parts if you have them.
Machine looks pretty good but of course won't fire up.
I went thru all 7 pages of search results here to no avail.
Here's my question, will the BSP board run startup tests if the EZIO board is bad?

When I power on, the LEDs on the front panel light and stay on, the CRT lights up to green static, sorta like a TV with no input. the BSP board has the green LED for "5 volts present" (LED 2) lit and the red "processor haulted" (LED 1) light lit. The others are not lit and never light up. reset causes red one to go out for a second or two, then relight.

EAF green light is on. all seems normal.

The FMDC lights cycle through a bunch of status and stop with a fast blinking green, slow blinking green, 2 yellows lit, and the #8 green lit.

I ran through the troubleshooting in the manual, For the most part the AC and DC voltages are ok except T2 puts out 180VAC where my manual says should be 90VAC. +24VDC is actually +32VDC.

All the axis drives have LEDs on, fans are on etc..

I pulled and reinstalled boards, checked and rechecked etc. with no change.

I think it's a bad EZIO or BSP, if the BSP will stop running checks when the EZIO isn't working, I'll replace the EZIO if I can find one. If BSP lights should be on even with bad EZIO, I'll look for a BSP.

It's a metric machine.
Thanks a lot for any help, I'm new to this type of machine. Planning a MACH 3 conversion after a while but would like to get it working first.

R2E4

Chart should provide info on FMDC status, by the brief description, I believe your FMDC is correct (see chart 4 lines from bottom)

Thanks for the reply.

I agree that the FMDC appears to be working. I think it's either the BSD or EZIO boards. Just not sure how to tell which.
I'm gonna try the board cleaning procedure tonight.

The T2 voltage is high compaired to my machines voltage output (r2E3). Which control do you have on this machine. You might also consider a PM to George (AKA Machinetek on this forum) as he seems to be the guru of Bridgeports.

I cleaned the BSP 2 and EZIO boards per the procedure in the maintenance manual, then scrubbed the connector part of each board bright with a pencil eraser, and pried each chip in a socket up gently then pushed them back in. No change in the display or status lights. The EZIO board must have a bad component. Also I'm guessing that the BSP 2 board is bad too unless a bad EZIO will cause a processor hault early in the startup tests.
Not sure what I'm gonna do from here, I suppose I could start the MACH 3 conversion now. I was hoping to put it off a while and at least be able to jog the drives around to check the servos and what not.
I'll keep poking around the EZIO board and see what I can figure out.

EZIO bit maps the CRT and the battery backed up memory resides on it. EAF has passed its tests but is not communicating to the system. More important would be what is your logic power supply at? Personally I believe the BSP is giving you grief. Never had a EZIO board go bad but now such a machine is 24 years old. The card cage can swivel down. make sure nothing is loose or shorted there as well.

Also check the 4 AA Batteries. I have seen a lot of weird things happen when these batteries go dead,
