Newbie- Bridgeport VMC 760 22 Opinions

Hi,

I currently operarate an Aluminum Extrusion Mill and market conditions are directing us to offer post production fabrication. I have found a Bridgeport VMC 760-22 with the dx 32 control that is in very good shape. We are looking to do holes, drill and tap, some milling. Mostly simple operations I feel. Will this machine be a good starting point for us as we have no CNC experence at all? It is very inexpensive and I have talked to EMI they they support it completely and they are not far from our mill. Will this machine do mutiple of the same part (6-8 parts) on the bed at once if fixtured properly? We will not be doing 3D mould work. Thank You!

Yes! The closer you are to support the better off you are.
I had a BOSS 9 and many times did multiple parts such as 5 in each vise and 2 vises, using loops and macros (hand written) the program was less than a page long.
I think you should give it serious consideration.

I made the deal and the machine will be delivered next week. It comes with all the manuels and all tool holders. Is there a good book that would help us to get started using this machine? Is there a recomended cad/cam package that works well with the dx-32 controler? Thanks for all your help.
