Hello, I am setting up a new bridgeport explorer 1. We are using a desco three phase converter. I was told that I need to hook up the wild leg to the input that only goes to the spindle, however I am having a hard time figuring out which one that is. I know what one is coming from the converter, just not where that goes in the machine. Can anyone provide any information? I am attaching a picture of the diagram from the manual, I am confused as to which leg does not connect to computers? Thanks, Brian |

| Looks like 1L2 1L3 feed the control transformer, unfortunately you have two transformers spread across the 3 phases so you cannot isolate everything from the 3rd leg. Which means T2 will be fed from the 3rd artificial generated phase, which appears would be 1L1. Al.

| Nothing to stop you moving the feeds so both the transformers are fed from the same two phases, leaving only the motor on the third phase. It only means moving one wire!!!!

| The installation manual that came with my V2XT (Explorer's younger brother) state's that you should hook up the "wild" leg to L1 but to me and many others, this does not isolate the wild leg to just the motor as you can see. This is how that can easily be fixed. Hook the wild leg up to L3 and then move the 1L3 wire to L1. Here is a link to the V2XT wiring diagram with what I just explained: http://www.americanmototire.com/cata...ExpDiagram.jpg This photo and link is courtesy of another CNC machine enthusiast. It's really simple and it does help. Now, when I start my spindle, my work light that is plugged into the back of the machine doesn't dim proving to me that it's not drawing juice the manufactured leg. Manufactured legs drop in voltage initially when a load is applied. Hope this helps. |
