I'm a new member and I'm having problems with a Bridgeport VMC 1000 with DX32 control. 1. I can set X.0, Y.0 in G56 or G58 offsets, I can set tool lengths fine, but when I start program, as soon as G56 or G58 is read by control I get "following error". Can't use G56 or G58 offsets. 2. Whenever I set tool length offset when I go back to “Run” mode I get "tool length check sum error". The tool lengths are the same as when they were set. Escape key removes error message. 3. When I am setting X.0 or Y.0 or tool length offset the display does not always change to 0.0000 like it should. Also in run mode machine position is displayed not work position. Shut down for a few minutes and restart usually fixes this. 4. Sometimes at start-up the tool length for the tool in spindle is a huge number, (random numbers probably). Now I call an unused tool before I shut down so I don't have to reset tool length. 5. Control sometimes freezes in edit mode, if I use reset button I get problems 3 and 4. Shut down and restart (sometimes more than once) solves problem. I was hoping someone could give me some advice on solving these issues. It is very annoying, not to mention not too productive when I have to shut down and restart 8 or 9 times when I use mill. |

| If I were there, I would do a scan disk and defrag of the hard drive, and check the logic supply voltage. Depending on what I found, I might be nuking the hard drive and starting from scratch reloading DOS and the machine software. I would also check the CMOS to make sure it matched the hard drive but not exceeding 528MB. That is a good starting point. George
