I finally have this beast making chips. Very happy with performance, etc. A question I have though in comparison with other machines is the home position or Reference position as it's called in this unit. Why does it go all the way to the left on an X move at start up? I like Z and Y positions(All the way up and forward) but would like to have the X move to the center. Does anyone know how to modify the reference point? Kevin V |

| Most machines i have do similar, there is a switch[trip dog] unless there is a linear encoder, in which case it is a ref on the encoder. I did build a machine with modern heidenhain linear encoders that have a reference every 'x' mm, meaning homing was very easy, within half an inch of wherever it was. My VMC 1000's home at, I dunno, 200 ipm, so it is over pretty quick. At the end of the day it is possible by moving the switch, maybe, but I think you will get used to it. |
