Soon I will be embarking on an adventure to retrofit a bridgeport Series 2 Interact 2 with modern DC servos, gecko drives and pc based software. I have spent the past year doing various research and slowly collecting parts ... the whole "budget" thing went out the window long ago!.
The only thing that I currently remain unsure about is what motors to use for the axis drives. The geckos will run upto 80v @ 20a so I'm assumning I want to aim for the higher end of the voltage range to get maximum efficiency and power.
Could anyone advise me what sort of motors I would need to give speed/power close to or better than that of the original motors that would be on a machine like this and if possible point me in the right direction to purchase some.
I dont really want to spend much more than £300 ($520) per motor.

Thanks, Jdelaney44.
Surely I'm not the only one doing a bridgeport retrofit and swapping the motors.
Anyone else out there with some advice ?

Sorry I am going to run with the existing motors!
Are the geckos able to run the existing motors ?

I do believe mine (R2E4) can be run from G320, they are 48 vdc servos with 1000ppr encoders. Take a snap shot of them and let's see what they are.Originally Posted by UKRobotics
