    Periodic Errors on Boss 9?

My R2E4 Series 2 with Boss 9 is now fully running. Periodically I get a "Low Byte Parity Error" on startup. It still seems to run after this error. Machine otherwise runs great. Any ideas on problem areas on the electronics? I reseated all the chips on the boards and reinserted all the backplane cards.
On a related note, are firmware upgrades for these machines available?

    Thanks!

No upgrades on software. As a matter of fact I think the source codes were lost a long time ago. The guy that wrote the stuff (Dave Cloud) is now or was working for EMI.
On the BOSS 9 the programs are in memory on the EZIO board which also bit-maps the CRT. It will hold more than it will back up with the batteries. But I thought it would come up with a program truncated error. In other words, if you fill the memory to the max and shut the machine off, the machine will not remember all that was in it. Clear everything. Tool table, TLOs, programs, etc and start from scratch. Are the 4 AA batteries fresh and alkaline? Otherwise you may have some memory that is failing you.

    Periodic Errors Followup

I removed all the boards, cleaned the backplane contacts and reseated all the chips. After reassembly no errors for a week and been running parts every day!
Installing the auxilliary cooling fan in the control cabinet helped immensly as well, anyone with an R2E4 needs to do that right away. Before the fan install, the software would crash if the door was left closed for more than a few hours.
