    Hardinge/BPt XR760 ATC ARM

Arm locked against spindle with pot down (holding my probe!). Manually turned arm to center by turning screw on motor (top of machine). Powered down...upon restart i'm stuck in MDI w/a 1125 alarm (during m6 cucle, power drop down). Can't home, handle, or anything.......Any ideas?

Never power down, probably a taper lock from tool being kept in spindle, unless there was a power drop. Continue turning 12mm until arm is parallel to y-axis then cycle power again, check and clean taper, also examine all tool holders/pull studs. If you still have issues cotact Odin,Ltd. 970-685-4391, they should be able to supply you with docs and support.

I called in a tech. If I had turned the arm another 5 degrees, i"d have fixed it. (it needs to be a touch past parallel with y-axis.) I did learn a new trick (Feedhold and reset clears the alarm so machine can be homed.)...this enables a digital recovery using the ATC-SRV button...steps through directions for recovery step by step.

Good Job, hope the tech wasn't to expensive. I see this all the time, biggest thing is to not cycle power as normally you can just hit cycle start and your in business. Be careful on button combinations (the one the tech prescribed is absolutely right on that machine) as I have seen clients wipe their parameters clean. Might be a good idea to make a back-up now (and date it) as your parameters are tweaked to exactly what you need. Many is the time I have to send generics, then get a call to come in and servo-tune in order to make it sing like it did prior to the initial issue(which you should consider if changing ball screws, axis motors or drives). Best of luck and remember we are here for you.

That reset/feed hold trick is very useful. I accidentally jammed my tool changer (XR1000 model) by calling a tool change with the CAT40 balance tool in after warmup...our machine is setup for BT40. Took a good long while to get that figured out...

Same trick works well if you get two tools jammed against one another in the carousel...co-worker pulled that one.

Did you try the ATC-SRV button?

I tried that it. I wasnt sure if there was a combination of buttons to push but the srv button alone didn't work. I've tried m31 and 32 but nothing seems to work.
