Bridgeport Boss 5 RDI help

I have a BP boss 5 i bought the ebay 9 pin seral kit and installed and have been using for 4 or so years. I have just bought a BTR and it runs in the RDI mode of the controls instead of the edit mode. First i reconnected the 3 wires that were cut for the previous install and replugged the other connection, however i didn't note the original dip switch settings on the ERS board. I know i changed them for the kit before, just don't know the setting before. When i restart the machine, do a reset, put in set up mode, flip the switch to RDI and press, the light by the RDI should light up, but doesn't. My first question is does the dip switches settings matter to prevent the RDI mode from engauging? If so does anyone know the proper settings? If doesn't matter, what next, i did check the push button in the control panel and it checked out good. The machine runs perfect from the edit mode and i have never tried the RDI mode in the past.
