standard cnc vari speed right? should be those three bolts as I recall. no leverage to pull it up. are there more through threaded holes to use as pushers? god, just did the belt 2 months ago and already forgot
I would like to temporarily remove a round plate that holds the top bearing right above the spindle.
Does anyone know how it is mounted and if there is any trick to its removal. I tried to remove it gently and it did not work. It seems to be mounted by three 1/4"-20 socket head cap screws and I believ e may also be used to install a power drawbar.
The reason for this is that I want to install an encoder on the spindle. So, if anyone knows of a good way to do so, PLEASE let me know. Thanks

Gus has it ....remove the bolts that hold the plate. Install same bolts into the alternate threaded holes and use them to JACK the top plate up and off.......do it evenly.
Everything worked out GREAT!
I was doing it to install a spindle encoder, to allow myself to do rigid tapping.
