Bridgeport BOSS Stepper Motors

Hi, ive just got a bridgeport boss but dont know how to wire the stepper motors. so if someone could tell me what is what i would be very grateful. I thourght that it was an eight wire motor but there are only 6 wires comming out.

Hi, here are some connections that might help, I used these on my Bridgeport
With gecko212's. They came from a Bridgeport group on yahoo. If you look close there are eight terminals connections for the winding of the stepper
Motor.

Hi, thanks very much, very helpful. How did your BOSS work out, im going to use 10A drivers

They have been running with no trouble for about two years. I do have them set a about 6.5 amps. The geckos will run them just fine and I'm sure there are other drivers that will do the job also.

In an 8 wire stepper, each of the two phases is comprised of two coils. Each coil has 2 wires, one at each end. Therefore, each phase has 4 wires coming out. 2 phases makes for 8 wires. In a 6 wire motor, each phase is really just one coil, with a center tap coming out, making 3 wires per phase. You can run the 8 wire jobs as a 6 wire by just twisting the two center wires together into one. That turns it into a 6 wire motor. Cnc

If you are running the motors in a full H-bridge, like in Gecko, you can ignore the center wire of each phase. Just tuck it away so it doesn't touch anything.
