I just got a Series 2 Interact 4 mill that had some spindle issues. The brushes were destroyed and ate into the commutator a bit. I bought some new brushes and moved the brush pack up on the commutator so the brushes would have a basically new surface to ride on. I can get the spindle to turn but it makes some pretty bad growling noises. The bearing in the spindle itself and the spindle motor seem fine when turned by hand. I think the brushes are out of phase with the commutator. I paid very close attention to their placement when I moved them up but I think the brush ring had been monkeyed with before I got the machine. Does anyone know how to align the brushes? The machine has a Contrave's spindle drive. Thanks for any help. Maxvic |
