After scouring the forums about information as to why my BP series one has issues with the y axis and z axis, I have come to a few conclusions.... 1. I have issues with the transistors 2. I cannot find any information as to how to test/verify the transistors on these boards. Can someone help me with a procedure to test the transistors to see which ones are bad/faulty? Pictures and explanation will help me very much. I do have a good multimeter and can use it. Here's what I have... BP series one with boss 5, converted to hillybilly board and mach 3 control. X axis works great, Y axis makes noise but doesn't turn much, just wiggles back and forth and Z axis is dead. THanks for your help! Steveo |

| Usually the 2N6547 will short between the emitter and collector (the two big wires). I put my meter on diode check to see the voltage drop across the semi-conductor junction. The odd ball one of the four is probably the one that is bad (zero voltage drop as it is shorted). Do not know anything about a converted machine but check the fuses if an axis is not doing anything. I am assuming Z is at least free to move mechanically. George

Fuses looked good, transistors looked good...so I bought some stepper drives from machmotion.com. If anyone wants, I have all of the old cards/drive stuff for sale...cheap..send me a PM if your interested. Steveo |
