brief history: My Heindenhain TNC 155b went bad in late July, so I had to send it off to Heindenhain for repair ($2700) Thank you very much! Got it back and then my Z axis motor went bad, Tacko not reading , so I got a replacement unit to use while that's off to repair. Now with the replacement Z motor installed my spindle drive motor brake failed (smoked) Seems the brake was on in the run mode. Had that checked and they said it was burnt pretty bad, but works. Now the problem- with the brake not installed on top the spindle drive motor I figured I'd be OK, however the tool release won't work. I measured across the brake terminals and read 46.6 ohms (Oh forgot to mention that with the brake wired in the circuit it blows a 5 amp fuse (3CF) on the terminal block and I don't get a lighted PWR button. the tool release doesn't energize, so I can't change tools. Looking for either another spindle brake if there's any out there and/or can someone tell me what the resistance should be across the brake terminals??? Now the CNC is a 1985 BP Seies II Interact 4 and the brake is mounted on the top of the spindle drive. It approximately 6" in diameter, 2.5" thick and the center is splined to fit the 15HP DC spindle motor. Anyone know this unit?? Help need as I'm losing my patience. thought maybe 6 sticks of dynamite just might do the trick.
