tncRemo RS232 and Bridgeport Interact 2

Having an issue with downloading programs from my mill. I can upload fine.
I downloaded tncRemo from the Heidenhain website
I searched through the threads and found out how to make the 25 pin to 9 pin cable. I hooked it up and ran tncServer. If I remember correctly I selected "Download All Programs" at the control. The status bar in tncServer showed the programs being downloaded and they all transferred.
I tried to upload and had some difficulties until I changed the setting at the control to ME. I changed the settings in tncServer to send a file, selected the file, went to the controller and selected "Read In Program Offered" and it read it in. Perfect.
A couple of days later I tried to download from the mill to the laptop. tcnServer shows "Stopped" in the status. I cant connect with tncRemo at all. The error is No Reponse from controller or something like that.
I changed the ME, FE and EXT settings with no success.
Sorry about the long winded explanation. I wanted to cover everything.

make sure you have the same control type and other settings the same. the software tends to revert to something useless when you restart it.

Is there a parameter setting that's involved somewhere? I was in Run mode and when I hit the EXT a different dialog popped up, something about blockwise transfer. I might have messed something up at that point.
