Question V2XT Password

I recently purchased a V2XT and after some minor problems I have got it up and running.(Thanks for the boot file,Machinetech!)Now I have run into a problem with the feed rate overide control. Does anyone know how to get rid of the password lock? I don't have any manuals for this machine, and any help is much appreciated. The guys I bought it from were no help. Thanks in advance. D

Passwork lock? On feedrate override?
I thought you went to the run screen and just "toggled" it on and off.
Can you be more specific as to what you see and when (what screen).

I will have to dig into that one. Somewhere in the back of my feeble brain, I remember a password for something on a V2XT. I have to check my notes at the office.

Hi,

Are you trying to change feedrate with feedrate over ride knob on front of machine? Try using the curser movement keys on the keyboard. In the run screen you need to press #3 on the keypad to toggle feed over ride on, then press #1 to run program in "auto" mode or #2 to run in "block" mode.

What is the serial number on the cross slide area of your mill?

Hope this helps.

Yours, Jim

Riverside192-
You could try posting this on the Yahoo website for V2XT's.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/v2xt/

You might find answers there.

Hi,

I do not know what will or will not work on a VMC 800, I have never seen one, but I have ran a V2XT for 10 years.

The reason I asked about the serial number was to try and get an idea how close yours might be to the one I run, as I have a full set of manuals. Do you have an SX or a DX version? I can not find anything in the manuals regarding a password for the feedrate over ride.

Yours, Jim

Well Jim its a 1988 V2XT. I believe it has a serial #XT-032 on the cross slide or saddle. It's an older control with a FMDC not a BMDC. It was on an Injection mold line cutting plastic flashing and I guess they used the password to keep the operators from messing around with it. We all know how knobs just seem to get adjusted all by themselves. If you need more info I'll get it when I get off the clock. Thanks D

I'VE GOT IT! No, not something I need pennicillin for.
The password stuff:
If software was reloaded, this may hve become the default setting - that the feedrate override needed to be unlocked.
Here is the procedure from BPT service bulletin 283, dated 1-30-92.
When in the start up screen, press F10 (XTSYSSU), cursor down to KEYLOCK, type in the follwing exactly as shown using capital letters: {OFF

Done.

George, A friend of mine is having exactly the same problem with a Discovery 308 with a SX 15 control. Is the procedure the same as you described for the V2XT?? He has been trying for two years to get it turned on to no avail. If you could help it would be geatly apreciated.

Thanks, Pete
