Drip feed Boss9

Can a Boss9 be drip fed through the remote port via pc. I have NCNET that I use for programs that will fit into the machine buffer. I now have a program that needs to be drip fed. NCNET will drip feed, will the Boss9 accept the feed through the remote port.

Thanks
Alan

The BOSS 9 was designed to DNC through port B using a piece of software from Bridgeport called EZLINK. It was fixed at 4800 baud.
If you give me your email address, I can send you a PDF scan of a tech bulletin on PC communication to a BOSS 8 and 9 machine. It also addresses DNC.

George,
Just in case you did not get my email. My email address is symson@southwind.net.. I would still like to see the file.

This whole talking to an old computer is frustrating. The bad old days of packets, baud rates, irq's.

I am close to making it work. I receive buffer overflow errors. It seems as though the dnc link will not turn on until after I have already started sending from the computer. That is opposite for when I send small programs without dnc.

The cadem people do not know much about Boss9. They have given some suggestions.

A buffer overflow is from data being sent to the device (CNC) without a response from the sending device, PC. If you are using your standard comm port, disable the FIFO and give it a try. If you still have a problem, use a line or character delay.

Chip,

Could you expand on that some. I am not sure what FIFO is.

My solution for the moment was to turn the one large file into several small ones.

Thanks
Alan
