hi, I recently purchased a 1993 bridgeport v2xt. Everytime I turn the spindle on it runs at max rpm. I can type in any speed and it runs wide open all the time. Is there an easy fix to this problem? thanks! |

| Is the air attached to the machine? Have you tried the jog +/- button to adjust the speed? The air motor or solenoid may be jammed of defective. Have you tried programming a speed? Do you have a operating manual? I remember that the BOSS 8 could have the auto speed control turned on and off. Do not remember if the V2XT could do the same. George

Hi George & meanmachine85- I have a 93 V2XT, but I have retrofitted it with Mach3. However, what I recall from my retrofit, could the potentiometer that is located in place of the normal variable speed indicator wheel on the front of the head be bad? That would send a false resistance value to the controller, and it could be trying to increase the spindle speed. Keith

| No. The speed feedback is from the position of the potentiometer under the cover at the top front of the spindle drive belt housing plus a switch at the high low gear lever to sive the proper speed range display. George

| Okay, now my new problems of the day. the spindle still turns backwards and it still runs wide open. We switched the legs on the incoming power and it didn't change. when i try to program a speed, a message comes up that says "rpm not available in any gear". I have air hooked up, with 75psi on the machines regulator. the jog rpm knob doesn't seem to work even with the jog. How do I check out the air motor that you mentioned could possibly be jammed? It also doesn't help that I don't know my way around this machine very well, so I could be missing something really important. thanks. |
