BPT V2XT not booting

Hello,
I'm trying to get this machine to work.

The Harddrive is not working anymore CONNER CP30064H Harddrive (booting from it).

This machine has FMDC boards.

So we need to replace the drive:
Does any drive would work?
Does it need to be formated in certain way?
What software should we look for?
How do we load the software to the drive correctly?

Any help would be appreciated.......THANKS

PS: already check in the yahoo V2XT group but got confused

Buy me a Beer?

If you want to clone the HD and it is not working at present, I have had some success by placing the HD in the freezer to get it working, and then use Acronis clone S/W to clone it, the Conner is a 61mB IDE drive, you will be hard pressed to find the same size drive.
It depends on whether the present bios will recognize a Gb drive.

ANY size hard drive will work but due to BIOS and DOS limitations, you need to Fdisk it to 503 MB. Make a DOS partition and make it active. The CMOS need to set accordingly. 1024 cylinders 16 heads, 63 sectors.

Ok, this means i need to partition the harddrive to 500mb with a win98 floppy disk.

on the other hand is this the right software V2XTSX4[1].41_3.41_6.20.exe (downloaded from the yahoo group)

...thanks

I made a DOS boot disk and use that, followed by loading DOS followed by loading the machine software.
The software you mentioned above is per definition for a SX machine which has the FMDC and is written for DOS 6.20.

ok, finally got this to boot on ms-dos 5.0 with ms-dos shell.

next is to install software.
so try to install bossxt2.5,2.01 , but now it wont boot it shows incorrect DOS version at start up.

what's the correct program i need to install? I know the board is a XT-339.
