Bridgeport series 1 identification

Hi guys.

I was looking at a used Bridgeport series 1 the other day and I noticed
the serial number wasn't stamped on the knee. It does have a identification tag on the left side of the mill that has a serial number on it but I can't
tell the year of it with that number. Anyways the mill is in show room condition and the guy says it about a 1993. Any other way to check the year of the machine?

Hi George. Thanks in advance for the history lesson.

It is a standard Manual Bridgeport series 1 (9" x 42" table). Its all original from the early to mid 90's. I did get another look at the tag and it has a Leicester England address on it. Did Bridgeport build any machines in England at some point? If so why would it be back in the states? Anyways its in such perfect shape I don't think I can pass it up even though I wish it was from Connecticut.

That makes sense. Yes there was a Bridgeport UK.
The American S1STD had it stamped on the knee. Very old American ones had a serial number on the door on the side of the column.
