I'm trying to run 50 of the same parts using datum shift. When manually inputing it into the controller the entire datum shift doesn't show up. I only get cycle def 7.0 and cycle def 7.1. 7.2 doesn't appear. When I type in the 7.2 offline in NC Plot and upload it the controller takes it but the machine gives me a overtravel alarm. I'm thinking maybe I have the wrong software version but I don't know how to confirm it or find the latest version. Thanks in advance for any help.

the different controls enter the datum shift a little differently

this vintage IIRC you can enter just a x or y or z etc, so your keystrokes are something like

[datum shift]
x 2.000 y2.000 z.1 [enter]

if you hit [enter] too early it will end the cycle.

the overtravel alarm is unrelated, you are datum shifting off the end of travel, or are not datum shifting and thus are off the end of travel

Hi,

I take it you went down the datum shift road then...

Gus is right, press each axis key and an amount. Don't press ent 'til you are done.

Thanks

Thanks! I was pressing enter too early. What an easy fix. Perhaps you could help me with one other issue. I uploaded a protected program and due to the limited memory capacity I need to delete it, however I'm unable to. I've been told to press the right arrow key while in the programming and editing mode to delete the "P" at the upper right hand corner but the controller gives me the same "protected pgm!" alarm. I've tried to upload the same program with the "P" removed (hoping I could write over and then delete) but I get the same alarm. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi David

As you can see I am a newbie on this controller. Thanks for trying to help me before. I would have replied to your help eariler but I had to leave this project by the wayside to get a few hot jobs done.

Unprotect a Pgm

I reiterate the previous advice (reworded slightly!),

To unprotect a pgm keep pressing 'MOD' on first line of pgm (in edit mode) until 'CODE:' appears and enter '86537'.
(I did say before to cursor over the P but you probly can't do that when pgm is protected, d'oh...)

Your controller may alternatively have a protect/unprotect symbol on the program management screen which will ask for the code when selected.
