| Hi all. I would like to attach a probe to my Early V2XT. I believe the software is there because If I turn the probe on A message states that the probe is in contact with something. I am assuming that there is a place to connect the wires to, but I have not found it yet, Can any one tell me where I can get the wiring information from? The only info. I have came from the Yahoo group and I have not found anything there about a Probe yet. The Other Question is about the cable connecting the A and B communication ports together, what is it there for? I would like to use one of the ports to communicate with my PC. Thanks In advance, Sam |

| 1, the wiring diagram should show the probe interface. There is a round plug on the casting covering the front of the quill where this plug is located if you have it. 2, are you talking about a black self contained plug on your RS232 DB25 connector? That reroutes the terminal signal to be displayed on the CRT. You can remove it for communications. George

| George, 1, Thanks for the quick reply. That's one of my problems --- I have no diagrams, can you point me to somewhere that I can get them? It has a 386SX processor. The serial # is XT144. 1, I took the cover off of the front of the spindle that covers the Z limit switches, but I see no unused wires , am I looking in the correct place? If this machine is not wired for a probe, Is it possible to install the needed conductors and make the system work?2, There are 2 black connectors, one on each com. port, (A and B) with a cable connecting them together. There are 4 or 5 pins on each port connected together by the cable. Thanks, Sam |

| Stopped by my office (rare) and looked at maintenance manual 11042556 for the V2XT. There is no probe interface shown on the schematic for the machine with a BMDC. however, the machine with the BMDC a probe interface is shown as connector P3. Cannot identify your Port a and B jumper. Port A shows a transmit and receive (pins 14,15,16) going directly into the FMDC at K5, and the usual RS232 pin out going to the mother board. Could port B be a parallel printer port? George
