Need Help!- Coolant Tank

I recently bought a J1 Bridgeport where the coolant tank is located in the column. In the bottom of the tank is some kind of semi-hard gunk that I'm thinking shouldn't be there. My question is what are the recommendations for dissolving this gunk so the pump can discharge it.

its probably water soluable coolant...so just add water and turn the pump on. should dissolve and make for easy removal. you may want to add warm water, and leave the pump cycleing for a good long while...

It is convenient and neat to have the tank in the base, but it is actually a DUMB idea. I have an old refrigerator hydrator - an enameled steel pan, so you know how OLD that one is! - sitting next to the machine. When it is time to clean it out, you just pick it up and carry it to the sink for a good scrubbing. You can probably get a decent tank at WalMart or whatever, although the coolant and oils may eventually make some plastics brittle.
