Default Bridgeport Vmc 500 Z axis problem

    Hi all,

We bought Bridgeport VMC 500/16 machine and we have Z axis problem. Machine working property about 30 minutes and the problem appears randomly. We noticed that it happens most often when the Z axis is sliding down. She making whole in material and destroys head of the milling cutter. After that we have GROSS POSITIONING ERROR Z C (and number 6 on Z axis driver). Z axis brake is ok, but we think that he is disabled when machine is working and the Z axis driver has to stop Z axis but he couldn't. Speed regulation problem? Driver problem? we dont know.
    Our system: Heidenhain
    Z axis driver: 6SN1123-1AB00-0AA0
    Z axis motor: 1FT5064-0AF71-1-Z-1

Has anyone had a similar problem?
    Thank you for your answers.

Then must be the driver or encoder cable.

Yes It was driver. I repaired him. IGBT module was ok but capacitors 150uF/400V were broken. I replaced them and everything is ok for now.

    Thank You for help.

    Special thanks to Jim Dawson.
