4th axis tutorial?

I downloaded v20 demo and went through the tutorials, mostly. I'm wouldn't be doing much CAD in BobCAD, I'm using Rhino for that. How about a 4th axis tutorial? I own v17, but haven't used it much. I want to upgrade to v19 or 20, or go with something else so I can use a 4th axis.

The downloaded tutorials deal with skins, extruded surfaces and such, but not any more complex g-code creation. I'd like to see an example of the 4 axis capabilities before spending the money on the program and then maybe having to spend more on the CD's without seeing a demo. A 5 axis demo would be really cool.

Thanks,
Monte

4th axis capabilites are only axis conversion for version 20. No back plotting
or simulation. ect.

Monte,
I have v16 (BobWire). It's 4axis capabillities is up to standard. I cannot air an opinion on v20 as i do not have v20.

someone correct me if i am wrong. bobcad(ver20 ect) does not support 4th
axis without converting some axis to it eg convert a axis movements to
y axis movements and does not support simulation and back plotting of 4th
axis. If bobwire does then why doesn't bobcad? what is meant by 4 axis
wire movements.

I could be wrong, but I think each end of the wire has an independent X and Y axis so the wire doesn't have to be straight up and down all the time. X, Y for one end, A, B for the other?

Talking

BobWire can be programmed for x, y, u & v axis. It means that when you wire erode a complex shape the wire can then be tilted to a certain degree (on my Hitachi 15 deg per side). Some shapes cut require this feature when the angle the wire needs to be tilted varies.

What actually happens that there are two g-code contours in the same program line(executed simualtaniously).
x, y, i & j for the program plane and u, v, k & l for the auxillary plane.
(The i, j, k, l values are for circular interpolation).

BobWire can generate a drawing of the toolpath from the g-codes, but cannot simulate the g-code program as other more powerfull cad-cam software does, therefore BoWire can't give the programmer an estimation on how long the machine will cut at a certain feedrate.....

Any more questions?

I have posted a simple 4axis progam for radracer in the BobCad forum recently. Take a look....

Thanks, I saw it awhile ago. I just figured out that it was a 4 axis EDM example. I was asking for a rotary 4th axis tutorial, but wasn't clear about it.

So is "Bobcor" correct that BobCAD-CAM V20 "does not support simulation and back plotting of 4th axis." ?

simulation

The simulation in BobWIRE for a 4 axis part is presented in the form of connecting lines. BobCAD-CAM V20 does not produce simulation for 4th axis indexing at this time. However, future version will.
Sincerely,
CNC Dude

Does it produce a wireframe backplot for 4th axis ?
