HOW DO YOU project text onto a boolean created surface

Can someone tell me how ,I have looked in manuals for 17,18,19 ,but no help in figuring out how to place text on the inside surface of a boolean created by drawing using the difference option. I cant select the surface because it is not a chain like in the example in the manuals.
